Let me introduce myself: My name is Ilyas S., and I am Head of the department for support of international projects and ranking in Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages (the first from the left on the photo).
During my Erasmus+ training mobility at the International Office of the University of Perpignan Via Domitia (UPVD), I significantly enhanced my professional competencies and acquired valuable practical knowledge directly applicable to my work at the Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages. The program was well-structured and provided comprehensive insight into the institutional practices of international cooperation and academic mobility management.
On 16 March 2026, I was introduced to the overall activities of UPVD through an informative presentation delivered by Mrs. Sandrine CANADAS and Mrs. Iulia INIGO. The presentation included detailed statistical data on the university, particularly regarding the number of international students and the geographical scope of academic mobility flows. I was particularly impressed by the campus infrastructure, which combines functionality, sustainability, and a student-centered environment. The campus is not only modern and convenient but also uniquely designed, featuring a medical center, cafeteria, as well as almond and olive gardens, vineyards, a small poultry farm, and innovative solar panels in the form of a “solar tree”.
On 17 March 2026, I gained practical insights into the work of the International Welcome Desk, a key unit responsible for supporting incoming international students. This department provides comprehensive assistance, guidance, and consultations, facilitating students’ academic and social integration. Later that day, I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Spandyar GANIULY, a student from my home university, and discuss his academic experience at UPVD, which provided valuable first-hand insight into the effectiveness of mobility programs.
On 18 March 2026, I was introduced to the management of international projects and participated in a guided tour of the city of Perpignan, which contributed to a better understanding of the regional context in which the university operates.
On 19 March 2026, the focus was placed on the administrative procedures related to both incoming and outgoing academic mobility, including documentation processes, application management, and coordination mechanisms. In the afternoon, I examined the financial management systems used within various international projects, which is highly relevant to my professional responsibilities.
On 20 March 2026, I explored the activities of the Across and Uniescat projects in detail. The program concluded with a study visit to Collioure, where the Mediterranean coastal landscape highlighted the cultural dimension of international academic exchange.
Overall, this mobility experience was highly informative, professionally enriching, and strategically valuable. The knowledge and insights gained will contribute to the further development of internationalization processes and the enhancement of academic mobility practices at my home institution. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the University of Perpignan Via Domitia and its International Office for their excellent organization, professionalism, and warm hospitality.
