  Course description

This graduate certificate provides advanced knowledge in all aspects of modern winemaking through the example of the Languedoc Roussillon vineyards and famous places:

 

  • Exploration of the famous French wine growing regions
  • Winemaking
  • Tasting methods
  • Language of wine

 

Joining theory and practice during the summer season the participants will be exposed to

 

  • Discovery of famous landscapes and places of our region
  • The work of professional winemakers including visits to wine cellars
  • Wine and food matching
  • Practical experience of theoretical foundations focused on the special character of the wines of Southern France

 

  Entry requirements

Course designed for French and foreign people over 18 who love wine. A good level in French or English is required. The possibility of translation depends on the participant’s nationalities.

 

Program – 50 hours

  • Foundations of wine science, specialized vocabulary. How to talk about wine.
  • Exploration of the wine growing regions
  • Visits of local wine cellars
  • Key characteristics of the different grape varieties and their regions
  • Winemaking and wine growing
  • Tasting workshops to practice methods and techniques
  • Cultural visits organized by professional guides
  • Food and wine pairing
  • Tasting workshops and visits of wine cellars

Stay

Located near to the centre of Perpignan the university offers the possibility to participate in  many cultural events during the summer time.
In the evening during the week we propose optional activities.
 Sundays are to go sightseeing: Mediterranee, Pyrénées, Spain…

Accomodation

Standard single rooms  at the student hall
with toilets and shower on each floor.
Studios with own bathroom
Hotel rooms (can be reserved for you on demand)
B&B or half-board in selected host families

Meals

Cafeteria on the campus.

Fees

50 hours tuition : 690 euros  (the fee includes tuition, visits and transport during the stay and all study material)
