Summer university for juniors (15 – 18 years)

Language courses with full board on the campus organized for French and foreign junior students

French and foreign teenagers meet on the campus of the University of Perpignan, located between Pyrenees and the Mediterranean sea near to the Spanish border.

Join us for “French life”: language course where young foreign students discover France or improve French and meet French junior students who learn foreign languages (English – Spanish – German) at the same time on the campus.

All courses are taught on the campus of the University of Perpignan.
Students can be accommodated at the dormitory (100m to the campus).

A full program of cultural and sports activities is proposed in the after-noon and on week-ends. In order to favour the contacts, everything is organized on place: courses, meals and accommodation.

Our staff is present all around the clock: a director and graduated activities organizers will make your stay rich in friendships, discovery, exchanges…

Course dates

From 06/07 to 19/07 – 2 weeks
From 06/07 to 26/07 – 3 weeks

A highly qualified faculty with extensive experience will enhance your communication skills with the help of attractive modern teaching materials.

Students will be taught in small level groups (max. 15) after placement test.

Morning

General French language courses (all levels)
18 hours per week
3 hours every morning from Monday to Saturday

Cultural and sports activities with graduated organizers will contribute to a direct link between French daily life and learning of the language:

Afternoon

Cultural and sports activities every afternoon:
Water sports – beach, indoor/open-air swimming-pool, table tennis, volley ball, beach volley, pétanque
Cultural activities, discovery of the region
1 excursion per week among:
The Mediterranean sea, the Cathar castles, the Pyrenees, Carcassonne, Dali in Catalonia, …

Evenings

According to the program organized by the town during the summer: festivals of theatre, dance and music
Movies
Activities organized on the campus: table games, television, video…
Discothèque…

The university is located near to the centre of Perpignan and allows students to benefit from the regional atmosphere.

Permanent (night and day) graduated and in accordance with the law.

Accomodation on the campus (dormitory)

Private room with wash basin (shower and toilets on each floor).
You should bring your own towels.
Students can use the launderettes at the student hall.

Meals will be served at the cafeteria of the campus, in the restaurants in town as well as on the excursions (picnic baskets). Tasting experiences of local products.

Health and travel Insurance

Before leaving for Perpignan, take your European Health Insurance Card or a travel insurance to cover medical expenses during your trip and stay.

Personal Property

The participants releases the SAIC from all responsibility and liability for any loss or damage to property.
Passports, Identity cards and tickets for travel can be left at the office.

Arrival

On Sunday the reception of the student hall is open from 7 o’clock for the new students. It stays open 24 hours a day.

Ground transportation to and from airport or railway station can be organized if place and time of arrival / departure are announced to the office at least 10 days before the course starts/ ends (25 euros).

Personalized ground transportation can be organized for small groups from their place of departure, airport s in Paris, Barcelona and Girona. Prices on demand.

Standards of conduct

Students enrolled are expected to show maturity and assume full responsibility of their own behaviour. Alcoholic beverages, tobacco and any chemical substances are proscribed. The French law does not allow smoking in public places like the university.

SAIC reserves the right to dismiss from the Junior University any student whose conduct or continued presence interferes with or threatens to interfere with the rights or well-being of the student, the group or any other person and decide immediate return to home. Any additional transportation expenses incurred as a result of early departure are the responsibility of the student.

GOING OUT

Students go out accompanied by our staff.
The time-table is complete, afternoon and evenings are organized.

No diploma or level in language needed.
The application has to be send with :

* deposit of 190 € (non-refundable but applied to the program fee) to the Agent comptable Université de Perpignan.
Payments of fees can only be made in euros:

Payment of tuitions fees and accomodation

You will be notified of your acceptance status by an official letter from SAIC.
The booking is valid and binding only if the full payment has been done at least 15days before the beginning of the course.
No refund in case of late arrival, withdraw from the program prior to departure or any changes regarding tuition or accommodation or cancellation. The deposit of 190 € is not refundable.
In case of withdraw less than 2 weeks prior to the programs first day (22/06/2008) you will receive no refund.

The SAIC reserves the right to change the program if necessary.
